Literacy is developed by exposing children to oral and written language. Through the use of pictures, play, the printed word, and oral language, children make a connection to reading and writing.
Parents play the most important part in their child's education and their experiences with literacy.
Ways to Help at Home:
*read aloud every day, asks questions that encourages expression of ideas
*have books available at home or visit the library
*teach your child to recognize their name & the letters in it
*choose educational shows on T.V.
*give paper, crayons, or markers to draw pictures & ask them to tell about it & write their response
*point out print on street signs, stores & restaurants
*encourage your child to talk and ask questions (why do you think.., how do you know.., where, what, who)
*help them to learn letters through books, puzzles, games, memory cards
La alfabetización se desarrolla al exponer a los niños al lenguaje oral y escrito. Mediante el uso de imágenes, el juego, la palabra impresa y el lenguaje oral, los niños se relacionan con la lectura y la escritura.
